This year I am walking in the Candlelighters Fun Walk and I would love for you to support me! I am walking in honor of Jasiah, who faced childhood cancer. I was with his family at a graduation party when he complained of hurting all over his body. His mom, my friend, Chemeka, took him to the hospital thinking that they’ll confirm that he was okay just needing to get out into fresh air and off video games. The doctors came back instead with confirmation of stage 3 cancer. I thought my heart had dropped at that prognosis. I can’t and never want to imagine how her heart felt at that moment. I can’t do a lot to make it better, but this is one thing I can do and I’m asking for your help to do this. I know that Candlelighters makes a difference in the lives of childhood cancer families each and every day.
The Fun Walk raises money for Candlelighters annual family camp – a get-a-way for the whole family. Many camps in Houston offer the child with cancer a getaway, but Candlelighers believes that it is very important for the whole family to come together away from the treatment facilities and their everyday hectic lives. Quality time as a family is essential in their struggle to beat the disease. The cost to send a camper to camp is approximately $200 and this year they are planning on hosting 250 campers!
Thank you for supporting me and for helping all the children with cancer and their families that Candlelighters serves!
